the internet has exhausted most of the ways it can be weird

(this is probably one of the boldest claims I’ll ever make)

there's a whole genre of joke where you juxtapose weird internet things with things where the weird internet thing doesn't belong, like if I posted "biblically accurate catgirl-as-a-service" which is a three part reference to the weirdness of the catgirl archetype, the biblically accurate angel meme, and the "-as-a-service" tech industry joke

and I think we’ve reached peak weird because I have an inability to do this with anything recent. catgirls aren’t even that weird anymore, tentacle porn was weirder in hindsight and we’ve fucked with gender-everything about as much as it can be fucked with. there are only so many things you can put on people or inside people.

and it’s like, how can this get weirder? I don’t think it gets weider by getting more illegal; when we talk about the Jeffrey Dahmers of the world we stop saying “weird” and start saying “evil.” there is some kind of presumption of allowability or at least sustainability in the weirdness of society when we’re talking about how weird "society is"; serial killer content couldn’t make up "a society", it has to be one-off or exceptional or society breaks down. this is why we don’t really talk about suicidal cults when mentioning how weird a society is — their form of weirdness took them out of that society.

so what left is there to do? a trend of people who have eyes made of fur that look like they’re closed but they can still see through the fur-eyes like one-way mirrors? that’s not even that weird anymore. truly new and radically weird internet stuff by the standards of someone like me, who has seen and been desensitized to just about everything, would be something like a trend where people deliberately pull out all of their teeth and get dentures. the internet has sort of hit peak weird, and there are a finite amount of ways to be weird or fuck with basic human intuitions, and we’ve exhausted a lot of those.

aiko moe is one of my favorite people to check up on not because she is weird — although she is — but because she is a manyvids adult content creator who produces custom requests, as in she will do literally anything you request. one time I got extremely drunk and ended up with manyvids credits and could not return them and had no idea what to do with them, so I commissioned a video where she says "john madden" for five minutes. she did exactly this, so I have reason to believe she faithfully fulfills more or less the vast majority of her custom requests, so I can see the full oddity of human sexuality expressed in her videos because they are a reflection of what people can think of.

and while she hasn't done everything, it like the sexy costume phenomenon. we've made so many things into sexy costumes. we can only sexify so many things, to the point where people are dressing up as like "sexy 808 synthesizer" and "sexy housing prices graph" and "sexy Norwegian traffic roundabout that symbolizes efficient urban planning".

so, I mean, at some point we’ve done most things there are to do. we’ve hit peak weird. we’ve weirded most of the ways to weird. it’s downhill from here.
